I was an ardent aerobic exerciser for more than 30 years prior to my surgery (maze+valve repair). I ran and rode a stationary bike. Following my surgery, I completed a rehab program and have resumed by aerobic exercise program. I recently found an article on the superslow web site "Atrial Fibrillation and Exercise" by Paul Teague. Dr. Kenneth H. Cooper is quoted has having "become alarmed at the increasing frequency of atrial fibrillation...in highly conditioned runners who have been exercising over a period of many years." Mr. Teague stated that he was told by Dr. Cox "that almost every AF patient he sees with alone AF has been a long-term aerobics exercise adherent." I had mvp, so my AF was not alone. But I am concerned that aerobics may not be the best medicine.
