I have lone afib but I am not an athlete. However, I always seemed to have had a slow heart rate (50 to 60) till it got slower and I had to have a pace maker. I am wondering if perhaps so many athletes have lone afib. because their heart rate is slow rather than because of the exertion??? I also have problem with altitude. I live on the foothills of Mount Baker in Washington state and, to my chagin, I can no longer ride up the mountain without triggering a bout of afib...
