I was always a top conditioned athelete in my younger days. I pushed my heart hard in running. As a 48 year old, the only other acquaintance of mine with the problem is a recovered alcoholic. For me, living life meant overdoing everything. I notice a lot of posters here are/were well conditioned atheletes- connection -maybe.
Now a year and a half past the maze, I am thrilled by my physical capability again. I love swimming, WW kayaking, skiing, trail running, etc. I hope to continue all of these activities until I am unable. I don't push myself too much anymore though, but activities like these make my life worth living. I do wonder if my pushing myself in my youth had a direct impact on my AF. I've struggled with the unruly monster since college.
I am glad to see that ablations are getting better and better, as it is a tough decision to do open heart, unless you're really bad off, and most Afibbers cope OK.
