I had a "repair" not a replacement. My cardiologist, who put me back on coumadin after the operation, in spite of my being in sinus, said something about taking it until the scar tissue formed in the maze incisions. I was in sinus since the operation and was wondering whether he would ever take me off the stuff. After 4 months he finally did take me off, and I ran out of the office so fast I didn't bother asking him the "why, so long?" question. He's got me on an 81 mil asprin. Do you take that or the 325? I guess my cardiologist is very conservative and probably thought that I might go back into afib between office visits. I've never heard any of the other "mazzers" talk about clots forming from the unhealed maze incisions. Thanks again for your response. If Dr. Hammer at CC didn't perscribe coumadin from the beginning, it's must be OK for me to come off now.
