I could only guess and it would be the same as you have said. My understanding is "Enteric" is supposed to pass through the stomach and be digested in the intestines to avoid irritation to the stomach. As to lightly coated, I suppose it is for easier swallowing. Getting an aspirin that gets caught or begins to dissolve half way down is a very unpleasant experience. I think the light coating might make the aspirin dissolve a little slower in the stomach too. Cheap aspirin seems to disolve nearly as quickly as Alka Seltzer.
