I apologize if this is a question that's been asked and answered before, but I'm new here. I am a 54-year-old guy who's been in chronic AF for about five years, after maybe a dozen years of paroxysmal AF. I'm in reasonably good shape and coping well with the AF on digoxin and Verapamil and Coumadin. My doc says to leave well enough alone for now. Does it make any difference to MAZE surgeons whether their patient is chronic or not? And does it affect the likely outcome? I'm fine now, but would rather enter old age in normal sinus rhythm. Thanks.
