Watch for an increased atrial size, which could be the first step toward chronic heart failure. That was my signal. It also is the first marker for permanent heart damage, not a pretty thing to look in the eye.
Remember the statistical risks of being in AF for one year outweigh the risks of a maze operation. That being said:would you like to feel great now, or later? Don't let the fear of surgery keep you away; it's not that bad. Take it from me, I didn't let AF keep me from sports and life, but it really sucked to be always on the verge of being out of breath. This operation should give you a new lease on life like it did for me. Good luck in your decision, let me/us know if you have continueing questions. You can email any of us also.
