Leave well enough alone? What does that mean? I find that most cardiologists just don't know what AFib feels like. They often don't consider that despite coumidin they are still putting their patients at a risk of stroke plus the risk of coumidin. They also don't think about the side effects of the drugs or the potential weakening of the heart muscle from being out of rhythm.

I had may maze at age 56 after enduring 14 years of it because I didn't know about the maze. Now having had it, I wished the surgery had been 10 years ago so I could run, backpack and do those physical things I love to do.

I think my question to your Doctor, Frank, would be, what does he want you to wait for? Is he expecting another cure to pop its head up? Or does he want you to quietly retire from life?

Forgive my tone a little here as I get frustrated with many in the medical community. I hope you get your questions answered and we on the board are of some help to you. Thanks for taking the time to post your question.
