I had an unscheduled cryo maze procedure in May following complications during PVA. I experienced quite a lot of AF for the first few weeks, and then for about 6 weeks I was completely free of AF. What Joy! For the first three months after surgery I was on Amiodarone and Atenalol (and Warfarin). I then came off the Amiodarone, and within a short period the AF returned, first for short spells but gradually increasing to be several days at a time. So my surgeon has put me back on Amiodarone, and, miraculously, the AF stopped after 24 hours, and four weeks later I have not had another problem. So although I am disappointed not to be one of the 95% reported to be cured after maze, at least it appears that I may be one of the further 3% who can now be controlled by medication where none was succesful prior to the procedure. Has anyone else had the same experience? Is Amiodarone the only answer?
