Alan, I am 9 months post maze. I too went into afib at about 2-3 months after my surgery. I had come off of the amiodarone for several weeks when the afib started. I went back into NSR on my own, but my doctor insisted that I go back onto the amiodarone for another 2 months. I'm now off of it and still in NSR. Like Carl said, don't automatically think you in are in the failure category. I was afraid of the amiodarone and pestered my doctor to try to wean me off of it. He did reluctantly and in my case, I don't need it to stay in NSR. at least for now). How much are you taking? I was on 200 mg a day.
