11 Weeks post maze, 52 days AF free. Today I had my stress echocardiogram. The Dr and nurse said I did very well. My HR was 59 when I started and 105 when I finished. When I saw my EP Doc he told me to stop taking the Betapace and he put me on Toprol XL 50mg/day. I was very surprised when he told me I needed to be on Toprol. When I left CC Dr. Hammer wrote a letter explaining his expectations, which would be taking me off these medications after 3 months. When I asked him how long I would need to take Toprol he told me the rest of my life. He stated I needed to be on Toprol because of my bypass surgery. Needless to say I am not overly excited about taking this the rest of my life.
Does anyone have any experience with taking toprol after having bypass surgery in conjunction with the Maze procedure?
