hospital stay

I was wondering how long everyone that had the open heart maze, stay in the hospital? I left in 2 days with a fever, and I returned to the hospital 2 weeks later with a pericardial effusion. Has anyone had anything similiar? I am 6 months post op and I still have sternum pain and it feels like I am pacing in my stomach, is this normal? My problem is that I have a pacemaker, and I think it does more harm than good!!When will this go away? I am getting no answers from my cardiologist, and my surgeon only saw me once after surgery. What is the usual follow up?
