Katie, You should have never been released from the hospital just two days after MAZE surgery. Five days would be minimum. Did your insurance company require this? If so they do not understand what is involved with MAZE surgery. In my case I was in the hospital eight days, a day or so longer than some. My blood count was low and I needed another blood transfusion before I could be discharged. Usually you do not see the surgeon often after surgery. You should, however, be closely followed by an EP. I, like all MAZE patients had a pacer after surgery. I did not need it when I left the hospital and it was removed. I do feel a stomach cramping sensation on occasion something like what you describe. At those times I concentrate on trying to ease all tension. This has improved over time. Hope this helps.
