To MAZE or not to MAZE

I am 66 and in good health. Have had chronic AF for over 25 yrs. Take Lanoxin 37.5, Prinivil, Lopressor and aspirin. So far as I know, I am always in AF and do not switch back and forth. Have prefered not to start Coumadin. Am quite active, playing racquetball or handball once or twice a week, and rowing(crew)once a week. Go to gym for workouts when rowing season is over. When on the treadmill 2 months ago for stress test my heart rate got up over 200 in little time. At that point of discovery Lopressor was prescribed. Was advised of the MAZE procedure as cure for my chronic AF and am currently scheduled for it in August. Had recent heart cath with normal results. Father had AF and had mini-strokes of which I have had none so far. Since I feel fine and can do most of what I want to do, am evaluating whether I should have the MAZE to prevent stroke events. Periodically I do have what seem like wilder AF episodes which do settle down again with rest. Also experience mini-sweats, and not sure if that is related to heart. I understand MAZE may also help reduce my blood pressure and slow heart rate to normal. Any others dealing with the same level of issues and whether to MAZE or not to MAZE?
