Great story, John. I also have some difficulty fighting back tears when I think of how I USED to feel, how hopelessly depressed I was, what a pain-in-the-a-- I must have been to those around me, not to mention the fear I could see in my wife's and son's faces when they saw me in real distress. And now...it's over, just because I had an amazing surgical procedure-the maze.

When I went to my EP yesterday, he cleared me to run a marathon (never dreamed I would think of that PRE-AF!), and he remarked about how wonderful the maze procedure is and how all of the patients he has referred to the CC are doing great. He did not want to see me again, but I asked that he check me in 6 months, 2 days before the scheduled marathon and he almost begrudgingly agreed, saying I needed nothing but to drop some weight.
Today, we were really busy, and I worked along with my employees doing things none of them have ever seen me do, lifting and carrying 100lb+ machines. I feel like I am 50, not 60.
Your story is particularily amazing because of the condition you were in pre-maze. Congratulations!!!
