Today we met with my husband's electrophyologist (spelling??). Joe continues to be in A-fib all the time and feels more and more fatigued. We tried to discuss the Maze Procedure with the doctor and he is not very encouraging- stated that only a few have been performed. He prescribed yet another medicine today,
called Flecainide(tambocor) 100 mg twice daily as the last oral alternative. He said to come back in a month and we might discuss ablation at Duke University, however, he did not recommend it either,
because ablation has 70% success ratio and 25% risk of stroke, and that the procedure lasts 12 hours. He feels that my husband should continue to live with A-fib rather than risk stroke.
We are so confused and continue to be on this roller coaster. Please help!
