Jackie,

I had a ablation procedure at Duke Medical Center in 1995 after being referred by my cardilogist. My procedure did take approx. 10-11 hours. However, the Dr. informed me that he did 3 procdures during that time (Wolf Parkinson White, AV Node Reentry, and general AFIB ablation. I do not believe normal ablation proceures take that long, provided there are no complications, Unfortunately, the ablation surgery had a temporary effect and I returned to AFIB about 3-4 months later. As for the ablation surgery, I was released the next day and was able to function well in about 3-4 days. I am with the other's who have responded and urge you to get a second opinion. I suggest you discuss this with your present Dr.

I have tried most of the milder drugs with out success and recently underwent the Maze Procedure (22days ago) and am presently in recovery (still in AFIB and healing).

Best of Luck and my prayers are with your husband

Jim
