I was also put on Tambocor after several other drugs for three months. At first the drug seemed okay but after a few weeks I began to lose weight (total of 30 lbs.), lost my sense of taste and was extremely anxious. Tambocor was adversely affecting my entire nervous system. This may not happen in your husband's case but watch for these adverse affects from this drug. It was shortly after this I had the MAZE procedure.

My EP doctor also needed to be informed about the details of the effectiveness of the MAZE operation. I brought him printed out pages from the Atrial Fibrillation Page on the internet (I am sure you are already aware of this resource). I also obtained the detailed results for all MAZE operations performed by Dr. Cox and gave this information to my EP doctor. I would be happy to fax or mail you a copy but if you want the most current information contact: palazzot@georgetown.edu. This is a tough situation to deal with but many of us have survived this "roller coaster" as you properly call it. You will too. John W. Gross
