Well, it's been a rocky 10 months. My maze and mitral valve replacement was done on March 19 2003 at the Cleveland Clinic. I have had a few bouts with aflutter and afib. I think I am in NSR now, with a resting heart rate of 65-70. I am taking several drugs and I seem to be tolerating them well. I'm on cardizem, lanoxin, coumadin and atenolol. The atenolol brought my heart rate down. That's the good news. The bad news is that I developed a case of the shingles about 2 weeks ago. If you think having your chest cranked open hurts, have any of you had the shingles? I have a checkup scheduled next week with my local cardiologist. I'll let you know the outcome.
