Just an update on how I am doing post maze. Had Maze at CC in March 2003 with Dr. McCarthy. I have been in NSR since the Maze, but have had an elevated resting HR since. I was taking Beta Blocker (BB) to lower the HR and some blood pressure medicine for a somewhat elevated BP. Feeling better each month and as of two weeks ago, finally came off the beta blockers and resting HR now about 79-80 BPM. Now I have really felt better since stopping the BB's.
To those who are still thinking about having the Maze I can only say that time goes by quickly and there are always questions unanswered. When you get tired enough of the AF, you will try the Maze and most likely be cured.
I read the board regularly and it does seem like a lot of people do have some problems. I believe that this is because so few who have the Maze are even aware of this site, so you don't hear about the successes. On the other hand, people who still are not right after the Maze or ablations continue to write and search for help and answers.
I am very thankful for being cured of AF and really consider it a miracle. I found this site by just searching the web and running across it. Otherwise I might still be suffering with AF and just living half a life.
Thanks to faith, prayers, Dr McCarthy, and this board and it's contributors, I have a new life!

Joel
