After reading of so many problems with elevated HR and irregular beats after maze for several months to a year or years, it appears that a return to the earlier method of cutting into the atria or wherever is necessary for doing a completion at time of maze. From what I've been reading, having the maze and ablations performed with the open chest/heart procedure is not quite completing the job while they have your chest opened. It may be thought to be a faster procedure and not on the heart/lung pump as long as the earlier method required, but then there is all the anxiety and post problems to contend with and then have to return for touch-up ablations.

Someone tell me what's supposed to be gained by this new approach. I'm missing something.
