There does appear to be new ways to cure A-Fib. The December 1, 2003 issue of U.S.News and World Report is a special Health issue on the "Heart" and on page 42 states, "a University of Michigan team revealed a new, remarkably effective way to cure atrial fibrillation. They pushed one of those little tubes, or catheters, into the heart and zapped the inside of the left atrium in precisely calculated spots with a little electrial jolt. After six months, 88 percent of the patients who got the procedure were completely cured." I do not know if this procedure is done in exactly the same way at the Cleveland Clinic. I remember Dr. Cox telling me when I went to see him a few years ago that he thought there someday would be an easier cure for A-Fib and that was alright with him.

Carkey, I don't think you have a lot to fear to try conversion with drugs. Many of us have tried it and are still here to tell about it. Perhaps there are risks I do not know about. Over time living with chronic a-fib will take a negative toll. Go for a cure but try to get converted to nsr in the process.
