Gene, cheer up. If your surgeon didn't do the maze, it was probably for a good reason. Since it would have been his first maze, perhaps you are lucky he didn't try to push you or himself beyond comfortable limits.
At this point, maybe you should investigate having the afib cured by an ablation (PVI) unless you need more open heart surgery - which I hope is not the case. Call CC for a consultation after you talk to your surgeon about why he didn't do the maze. An ablation is a walk in the park compared to what you just went through.
I wish your expectations for being totally cured would have been met by your surgery. However, for the present, let's be thankful you came through the surgery okay and that you are better off than you were. I'm sure you will get the afib cured in time. I too wish you didn't have to wait, but perhaps the alternative would have subjected you to serious risks.
