I’ve been reading this site for some time now and it has giving me hope for my Afib until yesterday. I’m a 46 year old male and had my first episode of Afib in 1996. Since then I’ve had about 10 episodes lasting 24 to 36 hours. 6 months ago I was put on Tambacor, in addition to the Toprol, and Aspirin I’ve been taking from the start and have had 0 episode since then. I know it is only mater of time before the Tambacor is not going to work. I had hopes that at the time I was having more and more frequent episodes I would have the Maze procedure done. Yesterday my cardiologist told me there was only a 23% success rate for this procedure and they do not know the longterm effects of the Maze. I was under the understanding that this procedure had a 95% success rate?. Does anyone have additional information and any suggestions on where I go from this point?.
