Tom,
First, dump your cardiologist and ask for a cash refund of the money you have paid him.

Second,
Call Dr Donald Hammer, MD, at the Cleveland Clinic:

1-800-223-2273, Extension 46697 or 45683 (ask)

He is the Cardiologist who works closely with the surgeons in the Maze unit. He will tell you of the 98% cure rate for the Maze procedure. He is also the only cardiologist (out of the six that have treated me) that I consider professionally qualified and knowledgable. The rest are pill pushers.

You can view Dr Hammer on the Web at:

http://www.clevelandclinic.org/staff/getstaff.asp?StaffId=2658

Several of us on this board know him personally and can vouch for his expertise, knowledge and integrity.

I developed Afib in the same year you did, 1996. I am cured now and it all seems like a bad dream. Don't forget that every year with Afib gradually destroys your heart function. Cardiomyopathy is not a pleasant way to die.

Henry
