Can MVP actually cause AFib or is it just a complication, e.g., increasing the possibility of blood clotting if you have AFibs?

Also, if I want to investigate getting Mazed at CC, should I request my first appointment with one of the doctors who actually does the surgery there, like Dr. McCarthy or Gillinov? Or is it CC's procedure for patients to go through one of the other doctors in the Afib Center first for evaluation and then see the Maze surgeons later if they believe it is appropriate?

I worry that whatever doctor I see, they will tend to recommend the procedure they perform, versus what I may want or need.

P.S. Thank all of you who responded to my earlier post! Your inputs were very helpful. Waking up almost every morning in Afib this week is getting me fired up to skip the drugging routine and going for the real fix at CC!
