You have a lot of good comments listed above so I can't add too much more. I would reiterate the fact that in my meetings with Dr. McCarthy, never did he try to sell me on the procedure. If anything, he encouraged me to research all options and be comfortable with what I chose. Like others, I had an ablation which failed. I also posted a couple of days ago some research on ablations and given what is currently happening and given my condition at the time,I am so happy I chose the maze. Meet Dr. McCarthy with an open mind. He's really a nice guy and very accessible. He has also been rated as one of the top cardo-thoracic surgeons in this country.
