I wanted to let everyone who has watched my progress know that I am now home in Albuquerque after my 1600-mile drive back from the CC after the Maze 15 days ago. I arrived home yesterday afternoon about 3 PM. We had a nice trip back because we were in no hurry. On the first day we left late and just drove a couple hundred miles. I would say that the first day was the hardest because we drove on some roads that I certainly didn’t consider smooth. After a 50-mile stretch of rough road I was starting to feel like my chest would turn into hamburger! I just didn’t know what to expect from my ribs. After the first day things seemed to get much better and I can’t really say that I was uncomfortable. We had a couple of wonderful meals along the way and I really did enjoy the trip. The last two days Mary drove just over 500 miles each day and that was no problem. Thanks for all the concern form many of you on this site who wrote to advise me not to drive, but to fly.

I have stayed in NSR with a rate of between 72 and 82. From time to time I put on my Polar Monitor just to check. I am still taking Rythmol, Toprol, Aldactone and Coumadin. As far as I know the only problems that I have had have been the run of afib/flutter that hit me while at the Guest House on about day 7. After the trip to the emergency room and one night back in the hospital, I’m doing great. Mary and I are just glad that it happened while I was still in Cleveland and not somewhere on the road!

I need some advice on how best to sleep. I cannot seem to sleep on my back. When I sleep on my side for too long I wake and am very sore. I just ordered a new mattress with one of those pillow tops. Maybe that will help.

How far have Mazers been walking by day 15? How hard should I push myself?

Tim
