After several complications and setbacks, I was released from Texas Heart Inst on Tues. Mar 19. Dr. Duncan
performed the maze on Mar. 6. First I retained a lot of fluid, so was put on heavy doses of diuretics. As
my weight was coming down, I started running a temp of 101 for a couple of days. They decided it was a
urinary tract infection, so was started on antibiotics. Thanks to Jack and Carl for the supportive phone
calls. The day after we arrived home, I was so weak I couln't get out of bed. Our family physician thought
it was probably the diuretics, so we cut way back.I have been slowly gaining strength the last couple of
days. I am in normal sinus rhythm, but with lots of pac's, skipped beats. Hopefully, these will start to
subside soon. My heart rate is about 100 bpm, it usually ran about 60 bpm before surgery. Is this normal
after the maze? Thanks for all your prayers.
