Quick comments:
Folks who've had the maze tend to have more PACs after the surgery for at least two reasons. THe scar lines separate adjacnt points of the atria, so focal points may not be suppressed. The scar lines cause irritation of adjancent heart tissue soon after surgery, and they are more likely to fire autonomously. and You aren't if a fib much of the time like you used to be, so there is more time to have pacs. PVCs don't occur as a result of the maze.

I have about the same maximum heart rate I had prior to surgery. In fact, I can push it a little higher now, 175 (age 55)vs 170 or so(age 52) , probably because I don't jump into af with extreme effort like I used to. It depends on what kind of physical condition you are in on how long it takes to get your max hr up there. Remember also, the formula you give is only a gross approximation of your max hr, it can be + or - 20 beats from the formula and still be normal. Max hr alone doesn't determine your maximum pumping capacity, it is the amount of blood your heart pumps per beat as well. The efficiency of CO actually falls off with heart rates above 150 or so. You can have a big motor with low rpm (Corvette v8) or a small motor with high revs (like the 4 in a honda s2000). Both can get you where you want to go in the same amount of time.
