Tony,
You do not have to worry that a heart surgeon will perform the MAZE operation if you only have pac's. A-Fib is clearly indicated on an EKG or Holter monitor report and will not be mistaken for pac's or pvc's. If you are having difficulty getting a record of your A-Fib you might want to ask your doctor about using an event Holter monitor or a 24 hour Holter monitor. I had both pac's and pvc's before my MAZE surgery. They increased in frequency after surgery for several months. My operation was in Sept. 1999 and the pac's and pvc's are now much less now than before my MAZE operation.

Tim,
My recent stress test showed perfect blood pressure, increased heart rate and good recovery heart rate. Before the MAZE operation my blood pressure would be very high when in A-Fib. Sometimes A-Fib will mask underlying SA node problems and after MAZE surgery they become apparent and can require the use of a pace maker. This in 30% of patients who have the MAZE surgery. You most likely will not have this problem.

Best wishes to all for the holiday season and a healthy new year.
