I've watched with some envy as some have mentioned it was easy to sleep. I had to sleep in a chair some of the time or elevated in bed. It was weeks before I could sleep on my side and I don't sleep well on my back.

I guess it is different for everyone. The good news is it was no where near what I thought it might be. I was all set for a long recovery and found it only took a few weeks. It was probably 6-8 weeks or more before I was real comfortable sleeping. The hardest part was keeping my three year old from jumping on my chest. I had to keep showing him the scar and saying "Owwwie!!!!" He got the point.

In anticipation of the surgery, we had gotten a bed that elevated like hospital beds do and it was very helpful. For me, it was close to 6 months before my chest wasn't sore anymore.
