Sleep was my single greatest problem postop. It was in part due to chest diecomfort, and part just plain old insomnia. Sleep disorders are relatively common after CT surgery requiring bypass. It does get better with time, but can take a while. In the meanwhile, you can... MAke sure your bed is comfortable. I got one of those nasa foam mattress pads, expensive but worth it. Take a longer acting ananlgesic. If you are on coumadin, you shouldn;t take aspirin-like drugs without your MD's knowledge, but 2 extra strength Tylenol immediately prior to bed time may help. ALos ask your doc about the Cox 2 inhibitors, celebrex or Vioxx. Make sure you are not depressed. This is common post op as well. Otherwise, follow the standard guidlines for insomnia. Avoid caffeine, don't exercise in the late evening. Don't sleepo during the daytime. DOn't go to bed until you are tired. If you can't sleep, get up and read in another room. Don't use your bedroom for activities other than those commonly performed in bed, sleeping and...
That's all I know.
