I am an afibber who is currently in NSR after my last cardioversion about 3 weeks ago. I am currently taking 100mg of Norpace twice a day and 50mg of atenolol twice also. I have noticed more APCs or PACs. I think that it is due to the Norpace that I started 3 days before the cardioversion. I have been reading this list for some time and feel that I am about ready to have the Maze done. If it wasn't for this list I wouldn't know anything about the Maze and how it helps those who have had the courage to go through with it. My EP doctor just wants me to keep taking drugs or maybe try ablation for afib next. (I did have ablation twice for flutter almost two years ago.)

My wife is a nurse and she would like to know more about the long term effects of the maze. Does anyone have any information from patients who had Dr. Cox as a doctor during the early years of the maze? How are these people doing? What problems does the maze cause for the heart as the years pass?
