Tim, from what I have read in older publications of medical journals on the maze, there has been no regression back to AFib by those who have had the surgery. For me, I have pushed the surgery as far as I can. I have run 50 miles six months after surgery with no problems whatsoever. Over 8 hours of pushing and the heart held. Since then, I continue to live my past life of backpacking, running, tennis and whatever (including the Carl Plaskett test of a couple glasses of wine) and there is no problem. I feel better all of the time.

I am not an old time mazer, but besides Jack, I remember reading about others who had the surgery years ago and still enjoyed their success. Why don't you call Dr. Cox or Dr. McCarthy and ask them? These guys are really more accessible than you might think. They will give you their results right on the phone. Best of luck to you.
