3 months after my maze now and still a-fib free and without medication (except coumadin).Yesterday I played a round of golf with friends, had dinner with them afterwards with some some wine and some coffee and it became late:normally a guarantee for a-fibs the following night. Now I slept like a rose! So no restrictions in my social life anymore! The prematury beats seem to diminish (or bother me less).I started to work again and I notice that my body is still a little weak:faster tired than normal, pain here, pain there, catching a cold faster, but this is getting better bit by bit.The biggest problem is still the slow and insufficient reaction on exercise.I am still not able to run,but rowing, biking and swimming give less problems. My maximal pulse rate untill now is 110 and it takes me about 10-15 minutes to get there. And I don't know what to do:should I try to push it up or just stay on the slow endurance (pulse 95-100).
And there is another thing I didn't mention before:when I lie on my left side my heart goes pfft, pfft, pfft, especially when breathing out.It is sometimes so loud that I wake up from it! When I turn to the other side or sit straight up it disappears.(nb:before the maze my heart had no extra sounds at all).Of course I told my cardiologist,he listened to it,looked somewhat puzzled and made a echo of the heart:no problems there, valves were okay. So:what is this? Sounds familiar to someone?(little wordjoke)
Keep up the SNR! hans koster
