Henry,
Thank you for your input. My wife tells me that I must stay in the health plan network, so I guess that I must stay with Penn. It's a shame that I wasn't given Penn as an option to begin with. I would not have had a tamponade there, as they have constant echos on the catheters, unlike Hahnemann. I can't have another tamponade, as my pericardium has been removed or partially removed. Dr. Callans at Penn wants to treat afib and PVC's at the same time. There is no comparison between Penn and Hahnemann. At Hahnemann, I was to have the procedure done on 2/11, then go home on the morning of 2/12. Penn wants me the night before the procedure, then two nights after. I spent a couple of hours discussing the procedure with Dr. Callans, and I feel pretty confident. I know a lot more this time around. By the way, my afib is pretty well controlled with Toprol and flecainide, but I am always needing a nap, usually several times per day. Getting the second procedure to get my life back seems like a no-brainer. I also hope that my paralyzed diaphragm is not a permanent thing. The nerve is not damaged, but they say it may be a year before I know if the lung will recover. Did you have the focal point or PVI ablation at Penn?
