Sorry to take so long in getting back but the results of my visit were not encouraging. Even though Dr. Natale had copies of previous echo's well before my visit he said he didn't realize the size of my atrium until he looked at the TEE after I was already on the table in the cath lab, but decided to give it his best shot anyway even though he would not have had he seen the TEE earlier. We started at 6:00 PM and finished at 11:00 PM. Also he is convinced that the previous mitral valve repair was a failure, lots of scar tissue in atrium, and doesn't believe that I've been in NSR at all since my MAZE over two years ago. When Dr. Natale made his morning rounds Wed. he strongly recommended an additional cath and a valve redo with Dr. McCarthy if indicated and probably a pace maker as he believes the sinus node is defective. At 9:00AM he agreed to release me to my hotel to return to Atlanta Thursday to set up a joint consult with my cardio and the CC docs. They forgot to tell anyone to release me and it took three solid hours from noon till 3:00 PM to get out. His comments were so different from what my local results showed two weeks ago that I am really concerned and confused. I must say that the CC is certainly very advanced medically and Dr. Natale is individually very impressive, but I have concerns related to the clinic about attention to detail, the individual, and especially internal CC communications. I mentioned several of our board folks and the MAZE board to Dr. Natalae's team and got blank stares in response. I apologize if I sound somewhat negative about the CC, but I am still quit sore, very disappointed and confused. But grateful to be back home warm and snug in my chair. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. Don't stop them just yet.
