Anders, You raise a valid point. This question has also occurred to me. When I was researching MAZE before surgery I could not find any definitive research studies to see how MAZE patients do long term post surgery. One and one half years after this I still do not find this available. My surgeon Dr. Duncan at the Texas Heart Institute has surveyed his 30 or so MAZE patients and told me most were doing well and were happy with the outcome of their operation. Dr. Duncan began doing the MAZE procedure in the early 90's so this would only look back a few years. John Gross
