New year's reflections...

Now, don't get me wrong: I'm incredibly happy with what the Maze has done for me! But...(here goes), I can't help to reflect upon a couple of subjects that have been previously briefly touched in this Board and others. 1 - Is there any follow up done in the rest of the world in regard of the long term effects of Maze? Why is there so little (seemingly anyway) effort put into this? Is it perhaps that the health care system in general (as seems to be the case here in Sweden) is primarily focused on "fixing things", and less so on finding out "why?" and "what happens next?". 2 - Someone pointed out that Maze can do wonders (it certainly has for me), but your lifestyle - or perhaps change in lifestyle - must also support / supplement what is done with Maze. I agree with this. This too is rarely mentioned by doctors and others I think. What I'm trying to say is of course affected by my own prejudice; I strongly believe that you must take care of yourself in order to do fine (meaning all aspects of "taking care", both physically and mentally / socially).
But again, hey!, I'm not trying to sound ungrateful or negative here - just stirring up some dust! :-)

Close to two years after the op, I'm still grateful, almost on a daily basis, for having had the opportunity to go through with the Maze! Have a great 2001 all Mazers (alumni as well as future) out there!

Best regards,
Anders
