Shucks, if you don't get the Maze you don't get to join the Alum. Well folks, it happened just the way they said it would. The CC EP Lab ablated the flutter pathway last thursday and we're home from Cleveland. The plan is to let the drugs clear out of the body and see if the fib returns. If so, can it be managed with less toxic drugs or not. If not, then we'll consider the Maze again.
Two things of interest. First: CC is a fine facility from the Starbucks downstairs to the quality of the care provided. I wouldn't go anywhere else. As an aside, if you stay at the Guesthouse, use your credit card for phone calls. Second: Dr. Tchou, head of the EP Dept. made some interesting comments about ablation. First, that there is work being done on WHERE the electrical signal which travels the abarent pathways originates and instead of ablating the pathways themselves, it might be possible to get rid of the source. He hinted that it might even be within a year. Now we've all heard variations on this theme before but this EP Lab is a top of the line facility and has the brains to go with it. So I'm hopeful. And I'm told that they do about four ablations each day so they've got a ton of experience.
My best to you all and good luck in Cleveland. Thanks also to you all for your kind wishes...and for your prayers. Sincerely, Bill
