I have just spoken to Laura on the phone, and visited her yesterday. She was due to leave hospital yesterday but a 'crackling' behind her ribs was causing her a little discomfort and they decided to do a CT scan. The result of the CT scan showed not just fluid in the lungs but also in the heart which they need to investigate further so she has been kept in hospital.

She gets waves of tiredness after a small amount of activity, including talking for any length of time, which may be normal just 9 days post MAZE.

There has been no AF in the past week, although some irregular beating, but for someone of 42 who was fit before the operation she does seem to be suffering a few setbacks during this recovery period.

I noticed from the previous postings that others have experienced fluid in the lungs after the MAZE, has anyone also experienced fluid in the heart? If so, do they know what caused it and how it was cleared?
