Father:
There is so much to tell from beginning to end, so I will try to feed the info to you in bits and pieces. MY HISTORY: Have had problems with a-fib since the 70's along with 2 by-pass surgeries. Went into chronic a-fib about 2 years ago and decided after trying many meds, I just didn't want to live the rest of my life this way. With the help of my local cardiologist,I traveled to the Cleveland Clinic for an evaluation with Drs. Natale and Saliba in April of 02. They wanted me to try one more medication (amiadorone) which made me very sick in many ways. If this didn't work then they would do the PVA which they felt I was a good candidate for. Due to a very crowded schedule, Dr. Natale could not do the procedure until Sept. 02. I had the procedure done on Sept. 19 and back for a 90 day followup in Dec. where all tests indicated that all is well. Especially the spiral cat-scan which showed NO STENOSIS! I will return in April for my 6 mo. followup (actually it will be 7 months) at which time I feel they will release me to my local cardiologist. I have been in NSR since Sept. 02 with the exception of a brief period of time when I slipped back into a-fib, which I am told is very normal. I feel great and back to sub. teaching in the local school district. I cant't say enough about the CC and all the great Drs. who helped me rid my heart of this terrible heart malfunction. I would do it all again if I had to. I will be happy to answer any specific questions you may have and in the meantime I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Bob Wilczek, Colorado
