Ablation at CC

Information, please.

I am 55 yr.s old and have had LAF for 6 years. I take flecainide and have quit eating "white" carbs and sugar. With this, I have an episode on the average of once every 2-4 months. This sounds pretty mild after reading this board, but it still messes up my life, as I never know when or where. I've had an episode in the middle of Prince William Sound and was 1 hr from having to get the Coast Guard to helicopter me to Anchorage, and another during a horseback ride through the Gaspe Peninsula in Canada. I just do not do these things anymore and there are many horseback rides I would love to take b/f I get too old. I have therefore decided to go to CC for the radio frequency. I leave on 2/4 and am scheduled on 2/6. (SOON!)

Mike Ware generously put me in touch with this board. I like it alot. The other board I found had people suggesting such things as giving up all carbohydrates and eating one's meat raw. To each his own, but...

Anyway I have many questions. First, it seems from reading the messages that the females having the ablation have not fared as well as the men. Would this be accurate? I am in Baton Rouge, LA and the flight home has a layover and the whole thing is about 5 1/2 hrs. Should I be able to handle this trip? We will return on Sun., the 9th. Will I be able to be alone the next day? I know it varies, but how bad for how long did you guys feel afterwards? When will I know if it "worked"? Does anyone know how CC defines success? How aware were you during surgery? Pain? I will stay positive (I AM going), but I do want to know the bad with the good. Anything you can think of.

Anyway, thanks for any information you can give. I've got no one here to talk to and am getting nervous, not knowing what lies ahead. Heck, I don't even like to fly.
