Hi Anne (I hope that is your first name)
I had the maze 8 months ago. Since the operation, I have been on Rythmol and Toprol. If I stop taking these meds, my heart rate goes to a steady 120 - 130 bpm continuously. I have been told that this is atrial flutter.I have an appointment for this Friday to have a flutter ablation with Dr Schweikert at Cleveland Clinic, which will (hopefully) cure the problem.
I have told my doctors that I will never take Amiodarone under any circumstances. It is too destructive to the body's health.
Good luck to you,
Henry Alken
