Steroids- Levaquin

Well, its been over 5 months since Maze at St. Lukes -Houston. My main problem is still the skipped beats ( PVCs/ PAC's) I saw the E.P. last week and he put me on 50 mg. of Tambocor per day to see if would help. It has helped. However, I'm like most folks here --don't like meds.

After being on the Tambocor for about 3-4 days develpoed sinus infection with my right ear stopped up and with a good bit of pressure. The family Doc. gave me an injection of steroids and Rx for Levaquin 500 mg. 1 per day for 10 days. This was yesterday. At about 2:30 AM this morning I woke up with a rapid but regular heart rate. 115 BMP. I got up and tried to get heart up but didn't help. It was not like A- Fib. or Flutter. Almost like paplations. I took 12.5 mg. of Atenolol. This got my heart rate back down to about 65-68 in about 30 min. My BP was also higher than normal and even the atenolol only got it down in the lower 140/ 86.

Question after all this. The Dr. and Pharmist thought it was due to the steroids and not the Levaquin. Have any of you run into this type of thing before. I have not had anything like this since surgery on 12-4-01. They thought it would be one time thing re: the steriod injection.

I was also wondering if the Tambocor could cause side effects after 3-4 days that would cause infections and some ringing in the ears?

If any of you have had this happen with meds I would apprecate thoughts and comments. This bunch has seen about everything I would think.

Humm, will see what happens tonight I guess.
Thanks,

TC
