I would like to thank this board for the information on the Maze. Looking back Ive had a problem with a-fib for a long time. Last August my cardio refered me to an E.P. to talk about pacemakers. As he told me about the various treatments he mentioned the Maze. He did not recomend it because of how invasive it is. He did refer me to an E.P. at Mayo in Rochester. To make a long story short I am scheduled for the Maze on March 1. Because of this board I know both the pros and cons and feel that I have a good grasp on what to expect. While I am not looking forward to the pain I am looking forward to getting off of amiodarone. I am just starting my fifth year, it did its job of keeping slowing my rate, but reading the side effects makes getting off of it and worth the discomfort. Thank you again, and I will keep in touch.
