I never have used amiodaron.When all medication to control my A-fib failed I had a pre-maze consult with Dr.Defouw.I asked him what to do:try the amiodarone or have the maze.Without hesitation he answered:have the maze.So I did and it worked out very well.
Don't keep torturing yourself and try at least a second opinion in f.i.Nieuwegein.
