Ed:
Congrats on your progress. I will be 5 weeks post-maze tomorrow and am also feeling great except for soreness around my sternum brought on by a couple of weeks of coughing unrelated to the maze.
I have wondered if I have also experienced flutter. I have had a few days on which my resting heart rate stays in the upper 80s to upper 90s and I have not felt quite as good. Last week I finally took 25mg of atenolol and my heart rate went right down to the low 70s, and my resting rate stayed in the 70s and low
80s for 5-6 days. Yesterday I felt the same way, with a HR of about 95-98, so I took another atenolol. Within less than an hour I was back to about 70 and feel more comfortable while exercising. If I am in flutter, it is at a low, consistant rate, and is unaffected by exercise, except I don't feel as good during my walking (no running yet, but perhaps my EP will OK that next week).
Like you, I feel great and glad that I had the surgery. I anticipate that all this will subside soon, but even if this is the best it can be, it beats the heck out of my previous state.
