Maze - Six Weeks

It's been six weeks today since my surgery and I am feeling great. I ran very slowly four miles today while keeping my heart rate under 120. It just feels good to be outside and moving. Great surf, by the way, for those of you in the mid-west.
I saw my cardiologist yesterday and as I expected I still have flutter. The AV rate is 2:1. My doctor wondered about doing a cardioversion to reset the heart so we went into his office and called Cleveland where we spoke to Dr. McCarthy's nurse assistant. She agreed that at this point a cardioversion was normal. So, I'm back on coumidin for a short period before he does a TEE and a cardioversion. Or, I may convert on my own between now and then.

If this doesn't work, then Cleveland has an EP who handles Dr. McCarthy's maze flutters and we'll speak to her. This will probably mean an ablation but I guess I'm getting ahead of myself. One thing at a time. I did ask her whether at six weeks the healing process was basically complete and she said yes.

So, that's the story. I feel good and I'm glad that the surgery got me this far and just a little touch up is needed (I hope).

My best to all.
